PRINT CLUB Open Studio | EVERY WED 6-10pm $10

The Newark Print Shop’s PRINT CLUB is a weekly open studio for artists of all levels to come and make art together. Inspired by a flier at the Newark Public Library, NPS Print Club was created in 2012 to revive the interest in the fine art of printmaking in the city of Newark, and quickly gained momentum as a community hub and true gathering around the printing press.
During PRINT CLUB, artists have access to:

• 24″ Conrad Etching Press
• 12″ Showcard Proof Letterpress, metal and wood type
• Ferric Chloride Etching Tank (for copper plates)
• Thermofax Machine for alternative screenprinting
• Homemade exposure unit for traditional screenprinting and cyanotypes
• [1] Shop silkscreen
• Darkroom for black and white film developing
• Brayers, Squeegees & Ink

WHERE: Newark Print Shop is a resident community partner at Express Newark located in the renovated historic Hahne & Company Building at: 54 Halsey Street FL 2, Newark, NJ 07102.
WHAT: A monthly event of wining and dining and of course printmaking! Experience an evening of screenprinting, drinks and gourmet tapas.

WHEN: Fridays | Once a month | 6-9pm

PRINTERS IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM

The Newark Print Shop is excited to offer a keyholder residency to 3 artists for 6 months culminating in a group exhibition. Resident artists have unlimited access to facilities at the shop to explore and engage with fine art printmaking processes in order to expand their artistic practice. In exchange for unlimited access to the space, residents attend our weekly open studio Print Club to assist participants and first time printers. Through this exchange, printers in residence further enhance their printmaking skills through education while immersing themselves in the ever expanding art community that frequents the shop during open studio sessions.

The Newark Print Shop is excited to offer studio passes for artists who need access to printmaking facilities and space to create their work. Studio passes are reserved for experienced printers who have worked in our shop during print club.
MONTHLY: $150 (*$125/6 month commitment)
The monthly pass is designed for knowledgable printmakers who need access to equipment and tools to create their work. Technical assistance is not included, but is available for an additional fee.
DAILY: $25 Daily pass
Day passes must be scheduled ahead of time to ensure a shop monitor will be present. Day passes are good for 5 hours in the shop for one day and include access to all of our equipment, inks and tools for printing. Day passes are reserved for experienced printers who have already worked in our shop during print club. Please note there is no technical assistance included in day passes.
