Design your own silk scarf/headwrap/sheets/cloth
Shibori is a Japanese term for methods of dyeing cloth by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, and compressing. 
Participants will learn how to Shibori dye with indigo and the three popular techniques used to dye patterns into fabric. We will also explore the process of applying wax resist and screen prints to your fabric to create unique patterns.

You are urged to bring in any small light-colored natural fabric or apparel to upcycle ie; cotton, hemp, wool, etc., to be dyed.

ARTIST BIO

Nelise Nasheida Charles is a designer, artist and woodworker living and creating in Newark, NJ. Born in Saint George’s, Grenada, raised in Brooklyn, New York her aesthetic is colorful and pattern-filled a play on her Caribbean roots. She works mostly with natural canvas which she dyes and screen prints. Also an avid woodworker, she creates small pieces in her spare time, out of a studio in Hoboken. Her next venture will be bringing a  woodshop in Newark to teach young adults the basics of woodworking.
